"Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Count Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak among
Toyota Motor Corp. car owners who say their vehicles accelerate
unintentionally.

Wozniak’s 2010 Toyota Prius can unintentionally accelerate to as much
as 97 miles (156 kilometers) per hour when he uses cruise control to
increase his speed, he said in an interview yesterday. Toyota and the
U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration haven’t responded
to his complaints in the past two months on what may be a software-
related glitch, he said.

“It’s scary when it happens,” Wozniak, 59, said from San Jose,
California. “I’ve had trouble getting both the government safety
agency and getting Toyota to listen to me.”"

I made the same point in an earlier post and was quickly shot down by
a Prius owner who said his Prius would go TWICE as fast as what you

Wrong. More skilled driver that probably can handle himself in a emergency.

Whats the matter, Toy sales a bit slow these days, stocks down and so
is the pension. Lets see, Priuss brakes, and cruise controll, Fords
hybrid is reviewed as a better driving car anyway

I don't think most Prius owners know where where the accelerator is.
Acceleration ususally has something to do with /speed/.

A lot of them know where the brake is, and now that there's been
discovered a hesitation in the braking system ,this is REALLY going to
confuse them!

One good thing about all this concerning Toyota: fewer people that
shouldn't be on the road to begin with won't be buying them.

The bad thing: they'll be buying SUVs the size of Sherman Tanks that they
REALLY won't know how to control in an emergency. If you can't handle a
Camry, the LAST thing I want to see you behind the wheel of is an
Expedition.

Bus companies sell passes good for a year.

Yup.
Now it gets interesting...

The IS200 is a real sports sedan, with a six cylinder engine (or is that
just the 250?) while the Prius' electric motor give an advantage from the
line.

I'm printing up tickets for this one!

You haven't read the parameters of the contest yet, nor who gets to
pick the route.

Be careful.

He will only give it to the NTSB I bet, he is smarter than us, he
wont give it to toyota cleaning corp. The Woz, sure they would want
"his" car, think what you could learn with some hidden surveylance
equipment, Apples next billion dollar inovations.

And didn't bother with the snow leopard upgrade which would have solved
the runaway problem, but have become incompatible with the brakes.

How many times you going to cross-post this?

How do you know Woz didn't have the cruise control set for a higher speed,
and in using "the cruise control to accelrate the car" he didn't bump the
paddle and reset to the higher speed? The way the cruise works in this
car, and most modern cars, is that the last set speed is retained in
computer memory. If you bump the paddle to "Resume/Accel" the last set
speed is reset and the car accelerates to that speed.

Your continued posts, with no interjection fromyou, indicates you might
not know a lot about cars, and should probably buy a year's pass from your
local bus company.

One complainant with nothing to gain is Wozniak. His complaint is the
only one I would trust, and you dont think he is smart enough to know
how to operate his car, get real. Toy just admitted TODAY, recently
sold Pruses are reprogrammed so this doesnt happen, their new boss
isnt so smart, this backlash will go on all year, used toys will go
down, and the Pripuss isnt the only hybrid in town.
