Ok,
Got the solenoid and pan gasket.
Solenoid was $127 and the gasket was $14 and now I have another question.
The dealer said I needed a special T-2 transmission fluid.
Do I need that or does the Dextron 4 cover it?
This looks like a simple job of removing the pan and takimg one bolt out and
unplugging the solenoid and then replacing.
Put the pan back on and add fluid.
Hardly worth $450 the desler wants for the job.

Is the T-2 fluid something special?

I don't know if I'd call T2 special, but it is not interchangeable with
Dexron IV. Check your owner's manual or transmission dipstick for the
correct ATF. I believe that the T4 that dealers now sell supersedes T2 and
so you can use T4 in place of T2. It will probably be less expensive at a
Toyota dealer than a Lexus dealer.

Ok,
I got the owners manual out and it said on a drain and refill that 5.1Qt. of
Dexron 3 is required.
That should be easy to get at AutoZone.
The owners manual came with the car so I assume it is accurate.

The owner's manual should be correct. You can double check by looking at
the dip stick.
