"Jacquelyn Donoghue of Holder, Neb., said in the lawsuit that her 2006
Toyota Prius suddenly sped up and went out of control in December,
slamming into another vehicle, killing her husband John and seriously
injuring her.

Nelson is also representing Teresa and William Myers of Laurel, Miss.,
the parents of Steffan Myers, a 20-year-old who was killed in an
accident on Jan. 10., just days before he started classes at the
University of Mississippi college.

The Myers said in a lawsuit also filed Friday in federal court in Los

Substitute Audi 5000 for whichever Toyota car is claimed to have gone
out of control.
And just like the Audi 5000, if the driver had applied the brake
instead of the throttle the car would have stopped.

That's not to say there isn't a problem with some Toyotas. But I am
saying these drivers did not apply the brake.
See the tests performed in Car&Driver magazine. The brakes can stop a
Camry regardless of how fast it is going (not on ice).
