I'd think it's easy to fix. Just stop using cheap parts.

"Tokyo -- Toyota's president apologized today for the massive global
recalls over sticking gas pedals as the automaker scrambles to repair
a damaged reputation and sliding sales.

But Akio Toyoda, appointed to the top job at Toyota Motor Corp. last
June, said the company is still deciding what steps to take to fix
brake problems in the popular Prius gas-electric hybrid.

Speaking at a hastily announced news conference that lasted an hour, a
stern-looking Toyoda promised to beef up quality control."

I thought Denso WAS a US company. (Never bothered to look them up.) They
have a pretty big plant a couple miles from here, in SW MI....

I have original, functioning Denso parts in my 42 year-old, Yokohama
produced Datsun.

Nope. Nippon Denso. At one time a stand alone company, but after Toyota
started using most of their output, they bought something like 50% of the
company.

Now pretty much all output goes to Toyota, but I know other makers were
using their cruise controls a few years ago.
